malum (mah'lum)

See disease. m. coxae senile. A form of arthritis deformans of the hip in which the symptoms closely resemble those of intracapsular fracture, m. perforans ped is. Perforating ulcer of the foot; a severe form of ulceration affecting the sole of the foot. The disease begins with thickening of the epidermis, and perhaps other trophic changes, such as abnormal pigmentation, hyper trichosis, and modifications in the growth of the nails. The ulcer, which at first is always round as if punched out with a perforating instrument, extends both in depth and in area, involving all the ti ues, including the joints and the bones.
