Mesomyodi (mesomiodi)

pl. [NL., in which the syrinx is mesomyodian; non-melodious or songle pa erine birds: distinguished from Acromyodi. mesomyodian (mes"ō-mi-ō'di-an), a. [As Meso myodi + -ian.] Having the intrinsic syringeal muscles attached to the middle part of the upper bronchial rings. Syrinx with le than four distinct pairs of intrinsic muscles inserted at the middle of the upper bronchial half-ring, representing the mesomyodian type of voice-or gan. Coues, Key to N. A.
