A. 1860, B.D. 1867; won the Cams (1854 and 1855), Burney University (1857), Hulsean (1857), Maitland University (1858 and 1860), and Norrisian (1863) prizes (see below); was ordained deacon 1856, priest 1857; was a istant minister of Curzon Chapel, May fair, and of St Mark, Notting-hill, London; a istant preacher at the Temple Church, 1865-70; head master of King's College School, 1868-80; Boyle lecturer, 1879-80; select preacher at Cambridge, 1868 and 1880; examiner for the Light foot scholarships there, 1876-77; select preacher at Oxford, 1881-82; since 1880 he has been warden of St. Augustine's College, Canterbury.
