CONCHOLOGY. (văm'pir.) (Superstitions.) Ablood-sucking spectre. A belief in the existence of such beings prevailed very commonly, in times of superstition, among various nations of Europe. About a century ago, an epidemic dread of Vampires prevailed in Hungary to such an extent as to afford one of the most extraordinary examples of credulity and systematic self-delusion on record.
