Henry Benjamin Hanbury ( eld. son of Mark Beaufoy of London, astronomer 1764–1827 ). Established 4 scholarships at Univ. of Cam.; gave city of London school £10,000; erected at cost of £10,000 Lambeth Ragged schools opened 5 March 1851, and invested £4,000 in perpetual trust for their maintenance; formed a library of 25000 volumes; privately printed his father’s Nautical and hydraulic experiments 1834; F.R.S. 14 Dec. 1815, F.L.S. d. Belgian envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary in London 1 March 1869 to death, d. 43 Upper Brook st. Grosvenor sq. 11 Oct. 1872 aged 66.
