[Fr., from Ru .] Zool.: Sciuropterus volans ; a flying squirrel, from the northeast of Europe and Siberia. It is about six inches long, with a broad, flat tail; tawny brown on upper surface, darker on patagium, pure white beneath; in winter the fur becomes longer and thicker, and of a silver-gray color. pol-děr, s . (Dut.] In Holland and Belgium a tract of land below the level of the sea, or nearest river, which, being originally a mora or lake, has been drained and brought under cultivation.
