Large Quadrangle, Trinity College, Cambridge

college, Peter house, was founded 1286, Pembroke 1347, Corpus Christ i 1352. It now has 17 endowed colleges and 3 "hostels." The young women in Newnham and Girton colleges are admitted to the Cambridge examinations, but do not obtain degrees. There are ab. 3,000 students. The Univ. library contains over 400,000 vols. and MSS., and some of the college libraries are of high value.
