Proteaceæ (protea see)

pl. [NL. (R. Brown, 1809), tacus +-ine1.] Having the character of I'vo- proteaceous (pro-te-a's hi us), a. tastacus; primitive or ancestral as regards crawfishes. The common protastacine form is to be sought in the Trias. Huxley , Crayfish, vi.
