[Lat. vallum =a palisaded rampart.] A rampart, an intrenchment, a fortification. *văl-la-tõr-y, a. [VALLATION.] Of or pertaining to a rampart or vallum. (See extract under SCRIPTORY, 2.) văl-le-a, s. [Named by Mutis after Robert Valle of Rouen.] Botany : A genus of Eleocarpese (q.v.). Peruvian trees, with entire cordate leaves, largo leafy stipules, five overlapping petals, many stamens, and a muricate capsular fruit.
