Sicotte, Louis Victor

(1812-1889). Born in St. Famille, Boucherville, Quebec. Studied law, and called to the bar of Lower Canada, 1838. Entered public life, 1852, as member for St. Hyacinthe. Elected Speaker of the A embly, 1854, and held the office until 1857; appointed to the Executive Council as commi ioner of crown lands, 1853; and held the same office, 1857-1858; chief commi ioner of public works, 1858; attorney-general, 1862-1863. In the latter year appointed a judge of the Superior Court, retiring 1887.
