fi ure, foramen lacerum anterius; a cleft between the greater and the le er wing of the sphenoid establishing a channel of communication between the middle cranial fo a and the orbit, through which pa the third, fourth, ophthalmic division of the fifth, and the sixth cranial nerves, and the ophthalmic veins. the eyelids. a fi ure on the mesial surface of each cerebral hemisphere, extending upward from the calcarine fi ure from just behind the splenium of the corpus callosum; it marks the boundary between the cuneus and pre cuneus, or between the occipital and the parietal lobes. fi ure, a temporary infolding in the wall of the cerebral hemisphere in the human fetus, corresponding to a permanent fi ure in the adult ape, the "Affenspalte" or ape-fi ure. pa ing backward from the foramen lacerum between the outer side of the bas i occipital and the posterior and externally the line of fusion of the petrous and squamous portions of the temporal bone.
