Palermo, Milan 1817-22, Venice, Vienna, finally Paris, and London 1830, after which he was recognized as greatest ba of time; sang continually in Paris and London until retirement in 1856. Voice remarkable for range of 2 octaves (E^ to e'b), for flexibility, volume, and bell like quality; though of enormous bulk, was a a mirable actor; greatest part LeporeUo in Don Giovanni.
