Cardinal Bird

Grosbeak, red in color, ashy on back, with chin and forehead black and with a crest; female not so bright red as male. Length ab. 8 in., tail 44 in. A brilliant songster, nesting in cedar trees, spends much time scratching among dead leaves on the ground. It remains during the winter.
