Deviation

For the same trajectory, the mean deviation of a projectile, at a given distance, may be taken as an indirect measure of its accuracy at that distance. The mean absolute deviation, which is the average distance of the shots from the center of impact, is the hypothenuse of a right-angled triangle whose sides are the mean horizontal and mean vertical deviations.
