pl. [Mod. Lat. sphærococc(us), and fem. pl. adj. suff. -eœ.] Bot. A sub-order of Ceramiaceae (q. v.) ( Lind ley ), placed under the Rhodospermee ( Berkeley ). Frond cellular, enclosing closely packed, oblong granules arising from the base, within a spherical cellular envelope, which finally bursts. ( Lindley .) sphær-o-coc-cus (ær as ër), s. [Pref. sphæro-, Bot.: The typical genus of Sphærococcoidea and Lat.coccus =a berry, a kernel.] (q. v.).
