WMS GOEDERWACHT A settlement in Cape Col: situated about 35 miles west of Piquet berg and about 90 miles N. by W. of Cape Town. The place was originally a Hottentot settlement founded by a planter who bequeathed the land to his faithful slaves. The name, meaning “well guarded,” refers to the nature of the site, which is a deep glen in a spur of the Piquet berg, overlooking St. Helena Bay. Africa, GOGO (Gogha) A town in Kathiawar, Bombay Presidency, India; situated in the district of Ahmadabad, on the W. side of the Gulf of Cambay, 45 miles W. of Broach. The climate is temperate and healthful. The natives are con: sidered the best sailors in India. Population (1891), 6,600, of whom 3,200 are Hindus and the most part of the remainder Muslims. Gujarati is the language of the district, but a dialect peculiar to the Muslims is also used and known Station of the Presbyterian as Musulmani.
