Blackwood, William

born in Edinburgh, originator of Blackwood's Magazine ; originally a bookseller; started Maga , as it was called, in 1817, his principal literary advisers being Profe or Wilson and Lockhart; conducted it as editor till his death (1776-1834). John , his third son, his succe or, no le distinguished in the cause of literature (1818-1879).
