As adj .: Having teeth like those in the pigs; of or belonging to the Hyodontidae (q. v.). B. As subst.: An animal belonging to the family Hyodontidæ (q. v.). hỹ-ô-don-ti-dæ, s . pl . [Mod. Lat. hyodon (q.v.), gen it. hyodont ( is ); Lat. fem. pl. adj. suff.- idæ .] Ichthy.: A family of fishes, order Malancopterygii abdomina les. It has been separated from the IMG:content-1405.jpg:[blocks in formation] hyoglo al Clupeide, under which some still place the genus Hyodon, suppre ing the family. The few known species are from the fresh-water streams and lakes of North America.
