iron bottle

An iron bottle with a screw-plug, for holding quicksilver. It is made by swaging and drawing from a disc of tough wrought-iron. After being brought by swaging to the form of an open ended cylinder, it is put on a steel mandrel and driven through holes of decreasing dimensions till it becomes a long cylinder.
