pacu (pako)

[S. Amer.] A South American characinoid fish of the genus Myletes, found in fresh waters, especially of Brazil. Also paco. pad1 (pad), n. [A dial. var. of path, perhaps in part due to the cognate D. pad, a path: see path.] A path; a footpath; a road. [Obsolete or slang.] I am no such nipping Christian, but a maunderer upon the pad .
