Leontice

(le'on-tis.) (Bot.) The Lion's-leaf, a gen. of the O.Berberidacer, consisting of smooth herbaceous plants with tuberous roots, which annually send up several variously-cut leaves, and stems abt. a foot high, bearing smaller leaves, and racemes of small yellow flowers. The Lion's-tooth or Dandelion, agen. of plants, O.Asteraceæ, having perennial root-stocks, from which proceed, near to the ground, a number of spreading toothed leaves. The flower stalks are usually leafle , the flowers yellow, all strap shaped, and surrounded by several rows of overlapping bracts. Leontopodium, (-po'de-um.) (Bot.)
