härt, n. the stag or male deer from the age of six years, when the crown or sur-royal antler begins to appear:— fem. Hind .— ns. Hart′ebeest , Hart′beest , a South African antelope; Harts′horn , the antlers of the red deer: a solution of ammonia, orig. a decoction of the shavings of a hart's horn; Harts′tongue , a genus of widely distributed ferns, one species native to Britain, common in moist woods.— Hart of grease , a hart of the season when fat.
