(sa-tur'ne-ah.) (Zool.) A gen. of lepidopterous insects, fam. Bombycid a. The Saturn i ans have the an tennæ widely feathered only in the males, and the larva has small warts crowned with long prickles or branching spines, and these prickles sting severely. S. mai a, the Proser pin a, has both pairs of wings cro ed by abroad yellow-white band, near the middle of which, on each wing, there is a kidney-shaped spot of black with a whitish crescent.
