But the term is used rather of intervals similarly implied, thus in the progre ion, say from e-c to g-d, the tone f is pa ed over, and as f makes with c the same interval as g with d, that is, a perfect fifth, the progre ion becomes a hidden or implied fifth, and is put under the same ban by stricter theorists, though sanctioned by free practice.
