[NL., neut. pl. of disco dactylus: see disco dactyl.] A group of tongued salient batrachians having the toes dilated at the ends, as in the Hylida; tree-frogs or tree-toads: a synonym of Platy dactyl a. Lylida ; discodactyle, a. See disco dactyl. disco gastrula (dis-kō-gas'trö-lä), n.; pl. disco gastrulæ (-16). [NL., Gr. δίσκος, a disk, + NL. gastrula, q. v. In embryol., a disk-gastrula; that special form of meta gastrula or kino genetic gastrula which results from discoidal egg-cleavage, or discoidal segmentation of the vitellus. Haeckel. (dis-kō-glos'i-dē), pl . [NL., Disco glo us ida . A family of arciferous salient amphibians, typified by the genus Disco glo us , with maxillary teeth, dilated sacral diapophyses, pre coracoids and coracoids slightly divergent and generally tapering, and with the sternum emitting two divergent proce es. The family is chiefly European, though one genus and species, Liopelma hochstetteri , is the only known New Zealand batrachian. Disco glo us has one species, of southern Europe. (See cut below.)
