[Rare.] Taxodieæ (tak-so-di'ē-ē), n. pl. [NL. (Parlatore, 1864), taxus; in this form the tribe coincides with the Taxo dineæ of Goebel (1882), except that the latter excludes Cep halo tax us. Taxodinæ (tak-so-dīnē), n. pl. [NL. (A. W. Eichler, 1887), cies, and Sciadopitys, Cunning ham i a, and Cryptomeria, all monotypic genera lofty trees. A second group, three species of small or middle-sized trees, the genus Athro taxis, occurs in Tasmania and Victoria. The remaining or North American group consists of the two genera Taro dium and Sequoia, each of two species, all attaining either an immense height or girth or both.
