LIP

A term applied to either of the two divisions of a Monopetalous corolla, where one portion takes a direction upwards and the remainder a direction downwards, as in Labial<e. It is the same as labellum, whicli see. LIPARIS. {Gr.Ximkcoi, glistening.) The name of a genus of Lepidopterous insects; also applied by Pliny to a genus of fishes.
