Robert . b. Str at haven, Lan arks hire 7 July 1762; a shoemaker 1775, a master shoemaker at Glasgow; founded Glasgow annuity society 4 Jany. 1808; edited the Kilmarnock Mirror about 1817; an intimate acquaintance of Robert Burns; published two poetical tracts Willie’s Vision 1795 and The Foppish Taylor 1796; author of Tales in rhyme and minor pieces about 1815, anon.; his song ‘Now, Jenny, la , my bonnie bird,’ has been attributed to Burns. d.
