Fleurdelis

(floor-de-le'.) [Fr., lily-flower.] (Her.) A charge supposed to represent an iris; or, as some have imagined, the head of a javelin. It constitutes the chief feature in the armorial bearings of the French royal house of Bourbon, and was first borne by King Louis VII. in 1140. [s. 369]
