Eng. XIIIcent. metrical romance showing strong Fr. influence. B. was s. of Guy, Count of Hampton, who was murdered at his wife’s instigation, the s, being eventually sold into slavery. In the Hast he became enamored of a prince , named Josiane, whom he eventually married. The romance is chiefly occupied with, the account of his wonderful exploits. It has been pub. by the Abbots ford Club (1838) and Early English Text Society (1885).
