[ (B.sylvestris) produces an excellent aber Bromeliaceæ (bro-me-li-a sē-ē), n. pl. [NL., bromhydrate (brom-hidrat), n. gions of America, and many of them are epiphytes. The order includes the pineapple ( Ananas ) and some valuable fiber-plants of the genera Bromelia and Karatas. The other more important genera are Tillandsia (to which the Spanish mo of the southern United States belongs), Pit cairnia, Achmea, and Bill berg i a, many species of which are cultivated in hothouses for their curious habit and showy flowers.
