Cubeb

or Cubeba (ku'-beb, or ku be'-bah). The unripe fruit of Piper Cubeba, cultivated in Java. Its properties are due to a volatile oil, and an organic acid. It is an aromatic stimulant, diuretic in small doses, and is useful in affections of the bladder and urethra. It is a good remedy (applied by insufflation or smoked in of the for diseases of the fauces, catarrh I cigarets) -ages, etc. Dose gr. x-gij. C, Fid. Ext., alcoholic. Dose itlv-xxx. C, Oleoresin a. ethereal. Dose nxx. C, Ol., the volatile oil. Dose iij. C, Trochi sci, oleoresin gr. oil of sa afras gr. ext. of glycyrrhiza gr. iv, acacia gr. ij, syr. of tolu q.s., in each troche.
