Characterized by plainne or coarsene of speech, or by a vulgar accent; acce unrefined. broad-spread (brâd's pred), a. Widely diffused. broad-spreading (brad's pred ing), a. Spreading widely. His broad - spreading leaves. Shak ., Rich. II., iii. 4. broad stone (brad's ton), n. Same as ashler . broadsword (brad'sōrd), n. A sword with a broad blade, as distinguished from one with a narrow blade or from a three-sided thrustings word; a sword of which the edge as well as the point is used. All forms of sword which have flat blade for cutting are called broadswords , contrast to swords used for thrusting alone. See claymore.
