Gynæcocracy

[Gr. gunaikokratia.] A term sometimes used to indicate that state in which women are legally permitted to a ume the reins of government. -It is used by way of contradistinction to the Salic law, which precludes them from the privileges of sovereignty. There are only five states in Europe to which the operation of the Salic law does not extend - England, Rus sia, Spain, Portugal, and Denmark. Gynandria, n.
