Eozoön

Structure found in Middle Lauren tian limestone rocks; considered by some the remains of a foraminiferous animal somewhat resembling a gigantic shell-clad ameba. Dawson, Dr. T. Sterry Hunt, and Dr. W. B. Carpenter, has been repeatedly impugned by many other naturalists, and the right of Eozoön to a place in the animal kingdom is exceedingly doubtful. Dr. John stone Lavis even claims that he has found similar structure in the Vesuvian lavas.
