[From Gr. dis, and gane in, to marry. Marriage to a second wife or husband, after the death of the first:-contradistinguished from bigamy, or marriage with a second partner during the lifetime of the first. Digas'tric, a. [Gr. dis, and gaster, the belly.] ( Anat.) Having a double belly. - An epithet given to a double muscle situated externally between the lower jaw and mastoid proce . It pulls the lower jaw downward and backward; and when the jaws are shut, it draws the larynx, and with it the pharynx, upward in the act of swallowing. Dig'by, in Nova Scotia, a W.S.W. co., bordering on the Atlantic Ocean. Surface extremely diversified. The co. contains several lakes, which give rise to some considerable rivers. Brial's Island and a very remarkable headland, called Digby Neck, enclose St. Mary's Bay on the N.W. Min . Coal and sandstone. Cap . Digby. Pop .
