[ the heavens. pseudo stigma (sū-do-stig'mä), n.; pl. pseudo stigmata (-ma-tä). A kind of false stigma with Pseudo trimer a which some tracheate acarines, as the Oriba tidæ or beetle-mites, are provided. In these mites the pseudo stigmata are conspicuous, dorsal, tubular, and each has a filament projecting from the interior of the tube. ostoma (su-dos'to-m pseudos tom a (sū-dos'tō-mä), n.; pl. pseudos to mat a (sū-do-sto'ma-tä). [NL.: see pseudo stome.] 1. In an at., a supposed opening on the surface of a serous membrane, regarded as the mouth of one of the absorbents or lymphatic ve els which begin in such membranes.-2. In zoöl.: ( a ) Same as pseudos to me, 2. ( b +) [ cap.] The name-giving genus of Pseudos to midæ: synonymous with Geomys. Thomas Say, 1823. Also called Diplostoma, Saccophorus, and As comys. [ pseudo stomatous (sū-do-stom'a-tus), a. pseudos tom a ( t- ) + -ous.] Provided with pseudo stomata, as a serous surface; of or pertaining to a pseudos tom a. pseudos to me (sūdō-stōm), n. [ false osculum or secondary opening replacing an original oscule of a sponge. Also called pseudoproct. Secondary canals or cavities, which may be incurrent (vestibular) or excurrent (cloacal), the opening of the latter to the exterior being termed a false oscule or pseudo stome. W. J. Sollas , Encyc.
