Beatification

(be-at-i-fi-kā'shun.) [From L. beatus facio, I make happy.) (Theol.) An act of the Pope, by which he declares a person beatified or ble ed after death, and the first step towards canonization, or the raising of any one to the dignity of a saint. No one can be beatified till 50 years after death. [s. 82]
