Sturbridge Green is (See also Bar well i an us.) that part of the Barn well Fields, Cam where was held the renowned Sturbridge Fair. Fuller writes of it: “This Sturbridge Fair is so called from Stur, a little rivulet (on both sides whereof it is kept) on the east of Cambridge; whereof this original is reported A clothier of Kendall, casually wetting his cloth in that water in his pa age to London, exposed it there to sale, on cheap terms, as the worse bridge,:... for the wetting; and yet, it seems, saved by the bargain.
