Nepotism

(něp'o-tizm.) [From L. nepos, a nephew.] (Pol.) A phrase which expre es a practice on the part of men holding high official positions, of providing for their relations (whether nephews or not) at the expense of the public, and to the exclusion of others who are better qualified. [s. 637]
