April Fools' Day

Probably originates in New Year's Day of ancient Persia, which fell on the Vernal Equinox. It was a feast of boundle hilarity and absurd rites. In Rome it became the Satur nalia, and in the Middle Ages w. Europe celebrated it as the Feast of Fools. IMG:content-0212.png:[graphic][merged small]
