Will ugh by was followed by Pennant, who afterward changed his opinion, and in his Arctic Zool ogy (ii. 243), describes the Wagel as the young of the "Herring Gull," the Linnæan Larus fusc us , the Le er Black-backed Gull of modern ornithology.
