(Sax. rlope-) In Architecture, the pavement or boarded lower horizontal surface of an apartment. It is constructed of earth, brick, stone, wood, or other materials. Carpenters include in the term the framed timber work on which the boarding is laid, as well as the boards themselves. Floor. The lower part of a ship's bottom. [s. 470]
