GREAT

The name by which the chief of the empire so called, founded in Hindostan by Baber in the 15th century, was known in Europe. The last person to whom this title of right belonged was Shah Allum; and the Mogul empire having terminated at his death in 1806, his vast po e ions fell chiefly into the hands of the East India Company.
