ADMIRALTY ISLANDS

in the Pacific Ocean, form part of the Bismarck Archipelago. The largest is about 50 m. long. Discovered by the Dutch in 1616, they came under German protection in 1885. Since 1919 the island has been held by a2 mandate by Australia.
