Fornax

[Lat., a small furnace.] ( Astron.) A constellation of the southern hemisphere, named by Lacaille, and situated in close proximity to Cetus, or the Sea Monster. It is one of the recognized constellations, but contains no stars of the first or second magnitude. For'nicate, For'nicated, a. [Lat. fornicatus, from forniz, an arch or vault.] Vaulted; arched. (Bot.) Arching over; overarched. For'nicate, v . a. [Lat. fornicari , from forniz , a vault, a brothel.] To have unlawful sexual intercourse with an unmarried woman.
