Dinant

(de-nant',) a manuf. town of Belgium, on the Meuse, p. and 14 m. S. of the city of Namur. This town was taken and razed to the ground by Philip " the Good," Duke of Burgundy, in 1466; rebuilt in 1493; and taken in 1554, and again in 1675, by the French. Pop. 7,447. [s. 288]
