Scabies

(ska’-be-ez) [scabere, to scratch]. Itch; a disease of the skin caused by an animal parasite, the Sarcoptes scabiei, or itchmite. The insect forms burrows or cuniculi beneath the skin, and causes irritation, with vesicles, papules, or pustules, which are frequently modified by scratching. 568
