(ek’’to-pek-to-ra’lis). The pectoral is major muscle.. ectoperitoneal (ek’’to-per-it-o-ne’al). Relating to the external or abdominal surface of the peritoneum. ectoperitonitis (ek’’to-per-it-o-ni’tis) (Gr. ἐκτός outer + peritonitis]. Inflammation of the external or attached side of the peritoneum. ectophylaxination (ek’’to-fi-laks-in-a’shun). The proce of rendering immune by the transference to the animal of a prophylactic substance which been developed in some other animal. ectophyte (ck’to-fit) (Gr. ἐκτός outward + φυτόν plant]. An external vegetable parasite. ectopia, ectopy (ek-to’pe-ah, ek’to-pe) (Gr. &- toxos displaced]. Displacement or malposition, especially if congenital. @. cor’dis, displacement of the heart outside the thoracic cavity. 6. len’- tis, displacement of the crystalline lens of the eye. ©. vesi’ces, exstrophy of the bladder. ectopic (ek-top’ik). Out of the normal place. ectoplasm (ek’to-plazm) [Gr. ἐκτός without + 315 ECZEMA πλάσμα a thing formed]. protoplasm of a cell. ectoplasm a tic (ek’’to-plaz-mat’ik). ectoplasm; outside of the cell plasma. ectoplastic (ek-to-plas’tik) [Gr. ἐκτός outside + πλάσσειν to shape]. Having a formative power on the surface, as, ecloplustic cells. See cell. ectopotomy (ek-to-pot’o-me) (Gr. ἔκτοπος out of place + τομή cut]. Excision of the fetus in extrauterine pregnancy. ectopterygoid (ek-to-ter’ig-oid). pterygoid muscle. ectoretina (ek-to-ret’in-ah) [Gr. é és outer + retina]. The outermost layer of the retina. ectosarc (ek’to-sark) [Gr. ἐκτός outer + σάρξ flesh]. The outer layer of Amabe and Gregarinidia.
