Gun Pendulum

Device, now obsolete, to prove powder; gun mounted as a pendulum, so that the axis of its bore and that of suspension have the relation of an axis of percu ion and a spontaneous axis. When the gun is fired, the extent of its arc of swing with the ma of the gun and charge gives the data from which the initial velocity of the projectile can be found.
